Yo,
If you remember my second Model than you know how sh*t I'am at modeling :P.
I made the Model like a month ago and havn't touched Cinema 4D since, until tonight.
I started making a Beretta 92FS (good starting model I think...plus it looks great) and have only done the handel with no detail so far.
So heres how it's going so far:

Go easy on me, Katarn, it's still very WIP :P!

damn. I was about to kill it. If you need any ideas on what a model of a beretta 92 looks like, refer to my gun modeling for dummies topic.

for a secound model thats really good. 1 thing you want to do is drag the verts toward the center of the handle that you chamfered.
good job man

How did you do that?Did you use spline modeling?

that's easy to do with plane modeling

Yup, the whole thing's Spline modeling. Only way I know at the moment.
By the way, thanks people for the positive comments.

Wow! I spline model too! Although I am learning (slowly) to plane model.

Keep it up man, that's awesome.

Brother! lol, To be honest it's the only way I know to model so far.
But plane modeling im guessing is using planes to model?
I dunno.

Yeah, it's really hard. I've given up for now :P

I made the handle of my first Model by plane modeling, it sucked!

Technically that isnt spline modeling, spline modeling is using surface tools, what you are doing is taking a spline and using polygon modeling tools on it so its a mix. You can get the same effect with plane modeling but it takes a little longer.

Also if you see the tutorial on plane modeling, dont ever use the add verts tool if you wanna make it for mesh smooth, just if you do that extrude the edge and place the verts, or else you might as well use spline modeling with poly tools..

Also, looking good so far looks like it will be a little over poly'd to go in game if you wanted it to, but as katarn has proved, i have a bad estimate on poly count :P.

BTW it's 'effect' not 'affect'.

I still don't know what spline modeling is, what I usualy do is place some vert's in the shape of the tank from one side, then turn them into polygons. Next I extrude and build from there.

Badly enough, it only works for hard flat surfaced models, like a truck or tank. I tried making a character and a mountain with that method and didn't really get anything out of it. It's abpout the only way I know how to do things.

pfft, thats just because i typed it fast :P.

Anyway, spline is basically creating the flat shape by drawing the edges, then either making it 3d with convert to EP or EM, or by using the spline tools and going to "extrude".

You can look at my tutorials to find it out, i use the most basic version of it.
