I'm messing with a render of mine, and I want to add a starry backround to the render. I tried just putting a circle around the model and copying that to another layer, then adding a noise effect to the backround, but the black space around the model shows up as a black spot. How do I get the stars in the backround but without having to cut pixel by pixle around the edges? I tried pressing ctrl while cutting, but that didn't do anything!
I have to zoom in to get the mot exact cut, but the rest of the screen becomes off screen, so I can't cut it out!
I need help!
Well, I used a color selection thingy and it kinda looked good. I used a white brush and managed to get some stars in the back round. Only some parts of the ship that are blackish got selected, and are kind of odd looking.

umm i think i get whats wrong. if your tring to select the background.
make the background black which it should be from the render. and then go to select at the top and then color range then select the black background and all the black in the render will be selected. or use the magic wand tool (this may work better)
