First, Downlaod Milkshape Click Here
Now go ahead and run it. The first thing to do is pick a gun to model off of. Google image search is good. Save the img to your picture file.
Make it simple. Right click the top left view and click on select background image. look for the saved img and click on it, now you have a background img.
Image
Now you can start to make vertisies. Do this by clicking the vertex button on the left part of your screen.

Now click on the top left view around the edge of the gun, this will make a vertex (red dot). Do that until youve outlined the outside of the gun and any spaces that might be in it. (See Fig 2)

Image]

Now that you've done that its time to make some faces. Go to the left toolbar and click the face tool. The goal is to make triangles that will complete the gun face. Click on three vertesies, and if needed go back and put some vertesies in the middle. (See Fig 3)

Image
I had to add some vertesies in the middle as you can see.

To make a face, once again, click on three vertex, to form a triangle. Keep doing this until you see the 2d image in the perspective view(bottom right). See Fig 4

Image

The red triangle is the one I highlighted no need to worry
Now look in the 3d view and rotate the figure so you are looking at the white side. there might be some black triangles, which we must get rid of.

Image

Go to toolbar on left and click on the select button. Below all the toolbar selections is a another mini toolbar that has some selections. if you clicked on the select button that mini should be there. ( It will say vertex, face, group, joint). Click on the Face button on the mini toolbar. Now select the face(s) that are black and go to face selection on THE TOP TOOLBAR. Then select, reverse vertex order. Now it should be white!

Image

ok now on the left tool bar select the groups tab. the word triangles should be in blue highlight. Under the white box there should be some buttons. Click the button that says SELECT. Now the whole gun should be red. (See pic)

Image

Now go back to the model tab on left toolbar. Now click the extrude button near the buttom of the toolbar.
Use the top right window to see how far you extrude. Extrude it by dragging the red part to the left. Dont make it to thick. If you do just go to top toolbar then edit then undo:extrude.

Image
Thats top right view.

Perspective view (bottom left) should look like this
Image

Now as you can see there is an open side. We must fix this.Since we have the closed side selected go to top toolbar, then edit, then click duplicate selection.

Now we have the duplicate auto selected. Reverse vertex order. (Top toolbar/face/reverse vertex order) Use bottom right view to move the dupe to other side. Line up the vertesies. Now select the whole right side in the top right view.

Image

Go to top toolbar/vertex/weld together.

We are pretty much done, but ill do some details, here is my basic model.
Image

Image

Now to add some stuff. go to cylinder on right tool bar and make one in top left view. make sure it is a good barrel size. Here is mine

Image

So now you are pretty much done with modeling, but you MUST add as much DETAILS as YOU CAN. Oh by the way add a trigger when it is needed lol.
