That has nothing to do with your bitmaps file. It's just your texture detail on your video card, which is extremely low. Even if someone did make a new grass texture, it will still look like muk.

the character skins are white because halo uses some sort of alpha tinting for each color which lower end video cards don't support

You don't get it. Theres one bitmap for every Character thats tinted. Its one white one, that gets tinted red for red players/ blue for blue, etc. It doesnt matter. Your video card is shit. Period.

impossible. You would have to actually go into the code and physically change all the reference files directing to the skin. buy a new graphics card, or more preferably, shatter your halo cd into tiny pieces and feel much better

That is a completely different concept though
There is no way to make it work on your current setup. You need to get a newer/better GFX card, sorry bro

halo master, if you don't listen to what people say (especially my post because it's correct) you will not learn anything. Stop being cheap and buy a new graphics card every 3 years sheesh.

Unlike me.
But just try this to see if it works.
The b40 is the only snow texture that comes white on my screen (1/2 way bad graphics)
Just try putting that in and if it comes white, then just get a new card to change your color.
Worked for me.

For Grass:
Open HMT>bitmaps. Find detail grass and save texture. Then find detail sand. Save for back-up. With detail sand open, inject the detail grass file. Tadaaah. Grass.
For warthog:
When the file forums are back up then go to Halo PC section and look for the recent post for the Hog skin for bad vid cards.
http://files.halomods.com/viewtopic.php?p=237305#237305
For the MC:
Do a search. There was someone that made an MC skin recently including doing the face mask.
You just wont get the specular effects but it'll do.
Next time. Search, read (a lot)and U shall find!!! GL

You don't need to buy a new video card or change code. The problem with his video card is that it won't tint the bitmap. So he want's a bitmap that someone has extracted and tinted and injected back in for him. The problem with that is that there won't be any color variations between different types of grunts.
You should get a new graphics card though. So should I though. But atleast I get tinting.
