Extracting .OBJ's in Maya

Hi, I have maya 6 unlimited and i was jjust wondering how to extract models as .obj files or if i need a seperate program or something. Anyways if one of you could answer it would be greatly appreciated thanks :D

Here is a picture of an energy sword model that i am working on its not much but it took a little while to get the right curves to make it look the way i wanted.

if you go to alias's site they now have a plug in for .fbx format. I'm assuming that you want to open these in 3ds max. (you'll also have to get the plugin for your version of max, also on alias site). hope this helps, its good to see another Maya person in tha house!!

Maya rocks, but i still only have the learning edition, cant be assed to buy it, it is good for job apps for game companies. They look for like 2 years exp in maya.

Whoa, next time make it a JPG and not a BMP.

Filesizes:

BMP>JPG = Faster loading 8)

hey pigeon you may want to try modeling that as a subsdivisional surface in poly-proxy mode and then convert to poly after you are done. it will be alot smoother and the curves will flow alot nicer i think. If you need a tut i can make you one just let me know.
