3d Studio Max: Cannot Compile with Extruded Faces

Hello guys,
I can't seem to get my extruded faces to compile right. Half the time I don't even get past "tool structure" (with extruded faces), I was able to get past this time, but when compiling lightmaps (radiosity) it gave me a degenerate triangle error for every single one of the extruded faces.
Is there some way to get around this?

PS I took the liberty of blanking out the name(s) etc, because I'm doing this map privatley for a friend, and it will be totally up to him if he wants to release it publicly.
