I pretty much took the hanger mesh from level 1 and put it into an obj. Now I have that obj in 3d studio max (5) and I am clearing the holes in the mesh. My problem is when I export it as a jms I get 1 of two problems. The first is an error message that says "You have no geometry." I found a way around that, I can't recall how right now.. But when I get around that it gives me another error message.. "You need to assign materials to your selection." or something like that.. As I said it was simply an obj imported to a new file so nothing like in the video tutorials. I need help with exporting to JMS or maybe a OBJ-JMS converter if possible..

you have to make another "frame" box on the outside of your map; it's dimensions do not matter. then select the standard cursor, and select all of your map and it's peripherals (don't select the frame box). after this, select the "link to object" button; it should be on the top left of the top tool bar, just let the little descriptions blurbs come over the button if you can't find it. then, click on your selected map and drag over to the frame box... a little line should etch between the two. 3dsMax will then ask you if you wish to attach the objects to the frame. select "yes" to do so, or "no".... if you like that sort of thing. anywho, know it should be no problem exporting as a jms! unless object selection has nothing to do with actor selection... I dunno....

Ahh.. I think I linked the frame to the objet, not the objet to the frame.. I'll give it another shot if nothing works I'm sure I'll ask again. Thanks D-funk.

Eh, I havn't seen the map around and I'm really just doing this map so I can basically learn how to do it.. We'll call it practice. Afterwards I'll make you guys some cool maps from scratch.

Alright I added a dds to my level that I exported from halo. I am using one texture for the whole level, why do I still get "my object needs materials." I've tried with blitzkreig and with chimp.. I'm useing 3dsm 5.
