Prologue Weekly Update 1!

by kamakaze
Not much going on this week, most of what happened was that we basically just got our team togethor (we are still looking for more members by the way, PM me if you are interested) and got a start on the first level. Though I guess what I should be talking about, is what Prologue is. Prologue is what we are calling our new mod, we are completely redoing the Halo Campaign so that it follows the storyline for the book Halo: The Fall of Reach. If you haven't read the book I recommend you do because this mod will probably not be done before Halo 2.

I would have posted a screenshot this week about what we have done so far, but I haven't recieved it yet. So i'll make sure to post it in next week's update, which will also probably be longer and contain more interesting information.

This new campaign will feature completely new levels, new characters, new weapons, and a bunch of other new things that I am not going to give away at this point in time. We will also be programming our own AI for this new campaign. At this point in time we still need another AI programmer and another texturer.

Sorry that this weeks update is so short, feel free to post any questions, or just discuss this week's update in this thread.

NOTE: All future updates will be posted at: http://cr2.stefans-mods.com/forums/ in the Weekly Updates forum.

well i have no idea how to use that site so after u post it on that site could u copy and paste into a thread on this forum too? just take an extra minute or 2... and would be easier for the people w/o accounts on that site. just an idea.

Well, the thing is, is that that site belongs to the leader of this project and so he wants the updates to be posted there. But I'll see what I can do.

well it doesnt look like your getting any feedbakc so i must have to say it sounds great although maybe a tad farfetched it seems possible, so i say whoot to this project!

although i dunno how youll make the new models fro characters, im assuming mainly skins

We will be creating fully new characters that will have original models and skins.

EDIT: Oh, and thanks for the feedback.

I'm curious, how do you plan to do this? You must be doing this in HaloCE then converting to HaloPC right?

I'm also wondering on how u are doing this some of the functions you would need to use arn't supported (in part or whole) by the HEK. just wondering if u have the following
-scripts (encounters triggers and misc)
-recordings (cinematics and dropships)
-models (with the skin and or physic modifier imported into the game)
-new bsp

don't have to explain them i just want to know for curiousity's sake which ones u have figured out.

And your huge ego!

But it should be possible to get the new bsp into HaloPC, as they already got fissurefall for xbox, with some screwed up UV nonetheless.

Maybe I'm just pessimistic, but I don't think this project's going to go anywhere.

i dont mean to act like i know how to create codes and stuff like that... but you guys are gonna have to create a new halo program for this. am i right? because with a new "campaign" as you say, you need a new folder to put saves in, you need a need to put in new codes that will switch you to the correct next level once you beat the first one, then the next one after you beat the 2nd, and so on. your going to need a whole new halo.exe file. this is gonna b hard... i only wish i could help but i only know how to use hmt and sparkedit.

This is a PC mod, not CE. So we are not using the HEK. We will be using the existing folders for saves, and we will be using new codes.

P.S. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I was out of town today.

I don't think they will have to edit the .exe just the ui.map and most of the sp maps (a10, a30 ect) the .exe is just really the engine.

You can add new maps via the ui,map. You don't need to write your own game for it. And the reasoi I'm on the team is, I know how to script halo, so fuck off ya retarted NMC modding bastards. (why did we even post this here, halomods has become the slum of the earth?)

Can you guys all chill out? Halomods isn't as bad as you make it out to be.

Anyways, sounds cool. Will there be custom cinematics and such (is it possible to create new cinematics from scratch)?

Yes we will be creating custom cinematics.

Yeah....

No shit jesus christ halomods went gay on us.....ahahahaha. The cinematics aren't gonna be made ingame, they plan to make the cinematics in a different programs, which is allot more efficient and impressive. Well any ways, happy jesus to all.
