Halo Map Size Question

I have a question, I am thinking about making a map, but when is the map too big. I am looking to make a map about the size of vice city. I am not making a Vice City map it is not even going to be a city. But that is about the size it would be.
Running with the flag will not work because it would take like 1 min. or so to reach the other end by running. So what I am wondering is how big is too big. There are going to be banchees so you can fly and hogs to travel by land.
Thanks

There should be PLENTY of vehicles for a map that size. That's kinda big, what kind of terrain are you going to use?

well it going to be a large flat surface in the center, plenty of room to run the warthog. around that are going to be a series of hills and a base at each end. It is going to include trees rocks you know the normal things. I am going to try to get around 4 of every vech. in the map for each sidem, if I can that is.
I don't really know yet, I was just wondering when is a map too big to use.
Thank you for your reply.

Hmm.. 1 min doesn't sound too bad.
What is the average or maximum size that a Halo environment can be?
Halo can handle very large open levels, but typically we suggest keeping the environment constraints to +/-16,000 units in all three directions for multiplayer. These unit values are in reference to the workspace in 3DSMax.
What is the polygon count per scene for Halo environments?
The number of actual polygons used to construct a multiplayer level should not exceed 10,000 polygons.

Hope that helped..

yeah I kind of figured that, but I never played that map before. But what will be different by my map is that it will not have roads or anything like that it will be a flat surface with hills. Like a big Blood Gulch.
Thank you for letting me know that though.
Thanks to everyone that has posted a reply.
If you any any more information for me, just let me know.
