More or less yeah. But theyre still big as hell, and they have the highest rate of fire for any handheld gun, besides those new ones that have stacked, electrically fired bullets.

Here is why its called a "minigun"...

When USA entered the Indo-China troubles during early 1960s, they soon found that they need to arm their helicopters, to provide additional firepower against enemy infantry. These applications also required a lot of firepower delivered in the short periods of time, so General Electric designers simply scaled the M61 gun down, for 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition. The resulting weapon, known as the M134 Minigun.

and...

In the year 1987 the movie "Predator" (starring A. Schwarznegger) hit the screens. One of the most impressive scenes was the one where the US Commandos, led by "Dutch" (Schwarznegger), attempted to fight back the alien Predator. One of Commandos was armed with the distinctive weapon, a 6-barreled rotary Minigun, fed from backpack ammo box. This gave the impression that the Miniguns can be used for infantry support. It must be noted, that in this movie a special, blank firing version of the Minigun was sued. The electric motor was powered via cable, hidden in the actor's pants, and the actor had to carry bulletproof vest and protective mask to avoid injuries from the fast and violently ejecting empty cases. Had this gun being fired using real ammunition, the actor would ended lying on his back, being forced off the legs by the violent recoil. The "backpack" ammo capacity, also, could be worth only several seconds of fire. lets calculate: 2 000 rounds of 5.56mm ammo will weight about 25 kg (55 lbs); 2 000 rounds of 7.62mm will weight about 2 times more, making such load almost impossible to carry on foots. yet this load of ammo will worth only 20 or so seconds of fire. Add some powerful batteries to power electrical drive of about 4KWt (4+ horse-power), and the bulk of the gun itself, and you'll see that even the strongest man won't be able to carry this load, less to fire it with any chance to hit, due to extremely powerful recoil.

You may have seen them in movies... but there is no such thing as a "handheld minigun"

Have you thought of making a turret weapon? (I mean, other than the one you are doing)

What about one that you can carry and place on the ground?

To the guy who said he didn't want to see another Halo 2 for pc map: What the hell do you mean?

It wont be Halo 2!!!! It could just be a stroy spawn off. Like the brutes have landed on this desolate ring, but they are tracked down by the Spartans, and then they fight. Or it can be like when elites first found the brutes.

Its just a Halo 1 map, but with Halo 2 features.

I know, I read the books. But I'm close to completing by rough brute model I made (see note1) although it is very odd. The model looks distantly like a brute. But it would help to have Gmax's capabilities in MilkShape.

So, it would be cool if you made, like, blue team elite warriors, and red team brute beserkers.

I cant emagine why it would be hard to import a brute staff or gravity hammer into the CE game (I wouldn't know, cuz I havn't got a clue how to make CE maps after the modeling part).

So, if you want any help, or want a beta tester (not just a peron who plays the map, but someone who does every stupid stunt, or action thinkable in order to find a glitch or bug) then PM me and I'll help if I can.

NOTE1: Anyone know how to do the animation correctly in Milkshape? I mean without the mesh staying in a fixed-rotated angle and the verticies just moving like a group.

Massively powerful human cyborgish like man. Can flip a tank like paper. But runs on batteries (flashlight).

Energizer.

Being most revered soldier in UNSC: 200 million dollars
Having strength to flip 60 ton tank: 200 million dollars
Access to all the sweetest guns in the fleet: 200 million dollars
Having to replace your batteries every month: priceless
(and smashing in grunts faces  )

well i never said it was for this map, just asking if i should make an smg variant of that gun. i did, in fact, tie it in with halo weapons. the large handgaurd is reminiscent of the M6D pistol

so, here's the smg variant which i doubt will be used. i want to see monazite's model, and i'm sure he wanted to do one for the map, specifically the smg.

Hey, Snuf? I kinda reccomend making the clip smaller for the gun, because it looks like MC could squash it with no problem.

Also, I would like to see the turret very much!

Lastly, what program(s) did you guys use to make these models?

oh and snaf, the handle/clip looks fake, cause at the bottom of the handle,
the curves a little bit, and it looks like the clip wouldnt be able to fit in
there.
