what about your hard-drive? couldnt you just salvage that ? and if it has xp moaning about a hardware change, having it as a slave?

no, I saved it on my thumb drive, and that was in when the power went out. It fried everything on the drive. I just have to restart. there are things I want to change anyway. I am still on Vacation. I need vacation. believe me
