[wip] stargate type map

yea y sidewinder? im so sick of sidewinder ur proly wana make ur own outside if u can... but if not stick with that foresty thing cus that was aswome

ok i scrapped the sidewinder idea. now i am in the process of adding tons more scenery objects, some lighting, and changing the sky up to make the whole outside darker/lighter

Same, sounds good! do u mean like the sky will change from day to night? i have a good idea on how to do that if u wana know...

lol no.. i meant like trying out different light levels to make it look cool.. so far im thinking... dark.

but uh yea how would you make it change? hm.. maybe some sort of model animation for the skybox? hmmm

o i just got an idear how about put a button on there that will close the irus (soz sp) the big think that blocks the stargate and it kill anyone who try to go in it when it closed??

it will make ctf game a bit more fun having to time when to go in the base

yea.. plus people would just keep it closed and only open it when theire team says so.... that would totally ruin games

hey ive got 3 new weapons in my map now... a staff weapon that kinda sucks but gets the idea accross... a sniper rifle that isnt quite textured yet but acts like a normal sniper w/ a diff. model... and the last one is the ppk made by someone in the files forum... once the site comes back up ill post his name... that is if i can use it...

bu anyways yea maps going well... i think i have 1 of the bases finished and the other just needs some scenery. i love making scenery objects. that way you can move stuff around w/o worrying about radiosity or uvw mapping. ill have some pics up later... prolly tomorrow

yay for more pics? well once again i need opinions. as much as my little brother sometimes helps... he doesnt actually play halo pc or ce so yea. and he doesnt know anything about mapping... so here we go...

inside the base... gun by [lotr]argrn... ive got a few guns that i didnt make.. havent actually seen if i can use them yet so who knows if they'll be in the beta

i think ive mentioned it before, but just to show u, heres the glass separating the gate room and the control room when its broken. just takes a rocket or a grenade

ok heres a gun i made.. ok well i didnt make the model, i actually found that on a free models site. i just made it into a weapon for halo. it works just like a sniper rifle, just i like this new model

ok so i have an obsession with stealing bsps from other maps... but hey i think that this should be a good addition. im working on lighting for it and theres 2 in the outside part.

yeh this is pretty good. you did a good job with everyhting i think, and i can't wait till there's a beta to try out. this is well...awesome. is there an animation for the iris? how about for the liquid inside, kinda like ripples or something? and if the guns look good and it's free to use, i say use it! that's what i did. only...the original was like...21,000 poly's!!!! but i managed to get it down to about 5... if only i could get it to work! it was the sickest machine gun ever :x . good luck on your map!

p.s.- since you are good at this (i think) please give me some crit on my mapwork.

no iris... didnt seem to fit the balancing of the map. it would ruin the gameplay i think. and yes the gate has ripples and such... check the very 1st post on this topic and get the video of it... then you can see what the gate looks like animated... but that video is pretty old.

This is just a suggestion. Make multiple worlds that are connected by the stargate. Make only two have flags. That way there is so much more room to figh. A disadvantage of this is that when people have the odball they just keep moving through the stargates. So just think about this idea.

erm may i ask how u got the inside the stargate effect when u go in it? is it just a tunnel that u fall which make it look like you flying?? because on your video there seem to be a big pipe think behinded it

yea the vid is rly old now... compared to what it is now. but yea all it does is teleport you into a tube that has an animated shader... then at the bottom u teleport out. but if the teleporter at the destination is blocked... u keep falling till u die

heh... the control room got an upgrade... new floors, new monitors, and a new OS to go with them...

but alas, the control room is as done as im gonna make them for the beta... just a bit more trees in the other area, some different sky stuff... and yea

oh yea and the new floor is bump mapped :D
