Selecting a Vertex to move, moves others (Undesirable)

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Selecting a Vertex to move, moves others (Undesirable)

Post by skidz »

Hey
I have another question about 3DSMAX.
I just finished making a tunnel in my map like kirk explained in his tutorial and I delected the polygons around the enterance to make the hole and filled it in with new polygons to go around the tunnel enterance. I now want to move the vertexes so they are spread out and dont have that dip. When I try to move the vertex it selects other vertexes and pulls them as well causing undesirable geometry. My question is, how do I make it so when I select a vertex it only selects that vertex and not the ones of the tunnel?

Here is a picture to explain what I mean.

It looks like you have soft selection enabled....open the "Soft Selection" rollout under your modifier list, then uncheck "use soft selection" and that should do it.

that did the trick :)
Thanks for the speedy reply, I must have left that soft select thing on after making the bumps on the ground.

Thanks again :D
