Need Help W/Mapping Problem

Post by Bladez »

Alright, I'm using FireDragon04's tuts to learn to map but now im stuck. In the end of his Outdoor TerrainTutorial1 he says in the 2nd tutorial he would show how to get a base into the map, but when i watched the 2nd tutorial it started with one already attatched without explaining how to do it. Please someone explain to me. Im on xfire a lot my xfire is Bigblades. you can also contact me there or by posting here. Please. Thx.

1. deselect all (that means get out of face/edge/vertex etc.. mode in editable mesh [if you are in there] and deselect the object)

2. select the thing you want to attach
3. use the move tool that he has selected in that screen shot and put it into the map

4. then deselect that object and click your skybox

5. go to geomety -> attach (must be in editable mesh mode)

6. click on the base/object that you moved in and it should become one with the skybox. If you move it, so does the skybox so make sure you've got it in the right position.

7. if it isn't in the right position go to face select mode under editable mesh and select all of the faces and under geometry select deselect and a dialog will appear (it asks you what you want to name it as).

I hope that helps :?:

P.S.

Nice sig. Gundam's a classic.

that was the answer to half my problem the next problem is actually getting the base into the map so that i CAN attacth it. Here is what happens: I go to File>Import>Folder: Halo 1 Base and select Infinity Beam Emitter.3DS and then I hit open and it pops up a box with the choices of:
Merge objects with current scene.
or
Completely replace current scene.
I have a feeling this is wrong what do i do?
