Question on Models

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Question on Models

Post by foxroar3X »

Okay, basically there are 3 things that people can do to Halo. They can skin, model, or modify.

Skin: I know you can use skins and still play in all the different servers... I like to use skins myself.

Question:

Model: Okay, here's where I get unsure. If I import a model (say a basic new model for the AR) can I still play in all the games online if I hadn't inserted the model in? In other words, are models like skins where it's mainly for looks? Also, let's say you remodel the Banshee to look like a dragon (I REALLY wish someone would do that, and do it well :)). The dragon model is bigger in size than the Banshee...let's say about 2x as big. Now, when you play in a game online, you get into a "Dragon". Is the "size" of the Dragon still the same as the Banshee? In other words, even though the Dragon APPEARS to be about 2x as big as the Banshee with huge wings and all, will it still act physically as a Banshee? Would I be able to remodel the Banshee to be 10x as large as it is now (or however big I can make it) then just fly around and crush everyone easily? Or will the "extra skin" of the new model just go through the ground as I try to crash it into someone, then finally 'crash' int the ground after a big part of it is in the ground already, since it would have struck the "real" Banshee?

ok it is like a skin but one when ever u change the model the collision model doesnt cahgne so if u did make tha banshee that big then even if u were hosting the game its only going to actually hit thinjgs where the original model was so the same goes with joining a room, i fu have a mdo on and u join a room with that mod still on and they not have it u will see the mod happening but it wont actaully be happening like if u swapped the pistol bullets for the tank shells then u would be seeing the explosions and whatnot and for a split second people and vehicles flying from teh explosion but then ud see what was really happening, doing somthin like this causes a huge amount of lag cause halo is trying to follow your game but at the same time the servers game is teh one that really counts so ull see glimpses of ur game but the servers game will take control of what dies and and flys and whatnot. so just watch out some stuff will lag u up and others will be fine.
