What editor should i use?
What editor should i use to edit meshes in halo?
Anim8or wont open a lot of things,
I dont understand how to work gmax.
3ds Max 6 Takes forever to download.
and i cant find a trial for Maya to try it.
EDIT::DOUBLE POST
The reason i dont understand how to use GMAX is because whenever i use an OJB importer, i get errors when loading the model

ok I have a question, I exported Bloodgulch.map mesh (the land part) I have imported it too Maya5 saved it as an obj file. Now how do I import it back into the game? I can't find the file in HMTv3 to import the land. Can you help me out. To export it I used SparkEdit, but it does not have an import feature.
Thank You,

Maya 5 PLE is about 130 MB to download, but I found it very useless.
3ds max 6 trial version... I don't know how many megabytes it is, but the only reason I didn't download it is because I got scared of all the downloads available
Anyways. I got my 3ds max 5 off [CENSORED]. I don't really know if there's a difference between 5 and 6.
you can find the trial versions by doing a google search for 'Maya' and '3ds max'. The official websites should come up as 'alias' and 'discreet' respectively.

okay, this is a lot of things different between 5 and 6, many new reactors, different particle system set up, new paint vertex system, and many other things but these are only for regular animating and have nothing to do with halo, and also dont post illegal ways to obtain programs or anything else, its in the rules, the ple for maya, im not sure if it has teh obj exporter or not, and im not sure if u can even export and import they might have made it where u cant save but i dont remember u can just check it out, if not then just get the max 6 demo, discreet doesnt have the max 5 up for download for its trial any more.

Yeah I have Maya5 unlimited (Full version) and yes it is for WinXp. But I do know that you can import/export obj files. And it is really easy to use and animate. If anyone wanted to get serious in animating, and rendering Maya5 Unlimited is the way to go. I have not yet tried out the Demo for maya so I know how how that is.

A harder program to use, may have better utilities. Therefore, causing it to be better.Barber wrote:your noobish because you dont realize that the easier the program the better the programFloyd wrote:You could use MilkShape, however, it's a noobish program and it's damn easy.

Also, MilkShape is a noobish program. I would suggest 3ds max because you can do alot with it in a shorter period of time due to it's flexibility.

Agreed. BUT, it can be harder to figure out how to edit the mesh in GMAX or crap like that, without changing indices or verteces.Floyd wrote:A harder program to use, may have better utilities.
