DXT 2 or 3?

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

DXT 2 or 3?

Post by Shin »

Okay, when I'm skinning, i do my stuff, until i'm done.

Then I do a save as a .dds, and i click on Dxt3 when I save.
But now when I try to inject the modified skin, it says "Error must be saved as a dxt2 or dxt3"

My version doesn't have a dxt2, so i save it as a 3, but it still says that.

What can i do, so i can inject textures without a problem?

Look at what kind the texture is, sometimes the error message lies.

What texture? I'll find it to double check, but it should say the type you need above the "save texture" button.

well, if you are using Photoshop, I have run into that myself. usually it was with the DXT3 files. Make sure you only have the RGB channel, that's how I've always fixed those problems.

i used to get the problem all the time, now i don't cause i haven't skinned lately. i usually saved it as 1 and it sometimes worked and sometimes didn't.
