Model: Anti-Banshee turret

Post by ViperGTS-R »

ok before you accuse me... im not trying to copy the other one... a rocket turret is a basic idea.

I wanted to make a model of a turret.. it came out allright but i still dont like it much but i cant pinpoint why....

older version:

UPDATE:
Image

update: now has targeting screen/computer display thingy

it seems like a super gadget chair more than a gun turret... perhaps you people could help :)

I was thinking of changing it to dual chainguns.. would that be a better idea?

thoughts?

ok.. only one suggestion (beside textures) is u NEED bump mapping.. pm me if u dont know how to do this.. its very easy, and requires only a basic paint program that can create bmp files.. that are black and white and r 8 bit.. like i said VERY easy

Jjust a few things to say. First off, The current turret has inf. ammo, so showing the ammo on the model itself might not be a good idea, although it looks cool. Second, where do you get in? I suggest the little glass thingy rotate down from behind. That would be tight.

Dan's right. The targeting interface, if that's what the glass thing is, is sort of in the way. It would be tough to make an entering animation for the master chief. Good looking model though, and maybe you could make it so when you ran out of rockets the "magazine" would fill up again and this would cause a delay, sort of like the rocket warthog. That way you can still have them visible and it would force some tact. Keep up the good work.

Make full-screen movies, get the cameraman ppf here.

i see your point about inf ammo.... ill enclose the casing (bit like an AK clip)

bump mapping? why? whats the point.. i dont like liying about how the model is gonna look ingame :p if bump maping isnt supported ingame then i wont use it in the render :)

the targeting interface will switch on once the player is inside the gun.. besides .. its a holographic display so you can pass right through it :)

Thought it might be better with chainguns... better? or should i stick to rockets?

i know the legs are screwy... the mesh went messy but i cant be bothered to fix it for now

no, no please keep the missiles (not rockets.. u want missiles.. longer and deadlier) .. they are much nicer.. possibly have a missile and rocket, and make the rockets very slow, but homing... :)

and y use bumpmapping??? because it IS supported in the game.. how do you think mc is made.. and sum other models are made w/ bump mapping too

Make the chaingun base the same as the rocket launcher one, It looks too much like the covenant one. :?

I like the chaingun a whole lot more, although the base looks too covenant-like. I would add the targetting thing from the rocket base, it did look very cool. The base really needs to be changed, not much room for legs.

Very good modelling no doubt, its cool without a doubt. But i think you know as well as i do, a model is nothing.

Sure its nice to show off with, but first you must skin it, skinning is more important than a model in most cases. A good skin can make or break your model so i hope you have a cool skin to :-)

Btw which program do you use to model?

Chaingun looks a bit too much like an armchair. All it needs is TV remote-control and a cupholder  .
