Ok, im a n00b to modeling, so i have a question.
Is there ne way to make one model, and make it look the same from all distances without having to go into each little picture and doing what u did before (which i would screw up somehow).
So is there a shortcut, cuz me being too lazy could use all he could find
Please tell me there's a shortcut
im guessing ur talking about reskining not modeling, so when the option comes up display mipmaps just click no. then u jsut get one pic but the thing is on some stuff like the banshee u can make that a color but then in game it still has a hint of purple, there is another bitmap taht like like a close up of the banshee on a highlight or shinny spot, just change taht too the same color u are using too.
I know what you mean.Shin wrote:no, actually i do mean modeling...
I mean all of the different models when u open a map in hmt, is there a way to just make one, and not have to repeat it again and again to get the model's different ranges?
There are different models with varying degrees of detail depending on how far you are away from an object.
Like when you look at the assault rifle from really far away
you are actually seeing a model with very few triangles,
as opposed to the detailed model you see close up.
It makes great sense from a game dev perspective.
Anyway, I don't think there's any way to do what you are trying to do.
You'll probably just have to make the same modifications to all models.
It would be nice if you could just use one model for all distances, but aside from the fact that HMT won't let you import a more detailed model inplace of a less detailed one, it would probably also cause a lot of lag and stuttering.
You could possibly just use the least detailed model for all the models, but that would look crappy.
The only reasonable option I think would be to make a compromise.
Say there are 4 seperate models you could use the least detailed model for the 2 least detailed models and use the 2nd most detailed model for the 2 most detailed models.
Did that make sense?...it did in my head.

Either way it's probably not going to look that great.
The best method is probably just to go ahead and make the same modification to each model. You'll end up with a much better mod.
Sorry to shoot you down, but you can't do that. You have to change every model seperately if you want it to look right. I recommend you edit the least detailed model first and record exactly what you changed and how much. Then you have to try to do the same thing with the greater models.xorange wrote:I know what you mean.Shin wrote:no, actually i do mean modeling...

The plasma sword from my crazy matrix mod is a good example. I had to redesign it several times to get it to look right from each model and it still has work to be done (the close ups don't look too great).
