Wow, it's already been a week... We've been working our asses off and Sunday came too soon again... At the moment I'm waiting for the latest playable beta of Zanzibar, also called the Update-beta, which we use to give you your weekly feed of screenshots.

As you might have seen in the last weekly update, I included a little screen of the Work In Progress model of the Energy Sword. We've made tons of improvements on the ES (Energy Sword) this week, including the energy texture. The handle texture was only available on the first person-model in this build (due to rushing of the Update-beta), but will change in the next build. As we could experience, the ES was strong. Maybe too strong. It was exactly like the E3-one (which isn't a bad thing, because the E3-one scored with everyone).

Look at that mesh you made!
The level isn't complete (let's say, not even started) without the actual geometry, and we've made some enhancements on that part this week. Basically we pasted the sniper building to the base, next week the windmill will have to suffer a link with those two builds (and quite possibly the first build fully textured). cold_Fusion has started on the Warthog Rocket Launcher and finished the Battle Rifle, so we need to make textures for quite a lot of weapons in the next couple of weeks.

When's it going to be out?
Well, I can't say much about that, but at the rate we're working now, the geometry and the mod which goes along with it (including the sword and the custom vehicles/weapons) should be done in around 3/4 weeks. In about 2 weeks the level will be done (the geometry), but it will need heavy tweaks before we are actually ready. For example, in this build, the way up to the second floor in the base at the front gate was too steep, so you couldn't climb it.

Textures were not even thought about for this build,

Lined up for next week: First textured build, more weapons in-game, more of the BSP ready... And maybe some surprises. :-)

ya it looks so much skinnier than the one in streets of earth city
i like the sounds for it too
gets kinda annoying but its a nice change

we actually have a MUCH better one with viens ready for next build, yeah i know it looks thin, thats how the shader is, its actually thinner, we will fix this

water sword lol j/k nj it looks pretty cool lil more solid and it would be perfect but i hate the sound when you take it out its just plasma nades exploding nj on mapping

...what about plasma nades?
plasma nades had nothing to do with this.

eh i cant stand that sound....its too annoying (thats the first negative thing ive said about this entire project yet)

and IMO the fatter E-Swords suck ass....i like it as is...but if u do end up makin it fatter...only do it a little bit.....BTW i can notice the resemblence in geometry w/this and the actual Zanzibar

I think the guy above above was talking about the plasma nades, asin the sound that the energy sword makes, he thinks its the sounds of one exploding.

WOW :shock: i cant wait for this to be finished..im alot more exceited about this than new mombassa..if this comes out the same day as nm, screw nm im playing this!!!

are you gonna make that powerful lunge attack like in the e3 demo? is it possible?thatd be bad@$$

i like the thinner model as well. i checked the extracted model from hmt and it looks like its just as thin as this one. this is going to be one helluva level

hehe we ripped the sound from the e3 directfeed high res vid.
we are cleaning it up now, although i think we will soon have a totally new sound created

That's a relief. I am not saying it is terrible, I just think it would get on my nerves after whipping it out many times. Anyway, the level looks great so far, can't wait for it to be done. It has yet to be seen which map will avail over the other: zanzibar, or new mombasa.

if its possible...you should probably make MC run faster with the ES because um...if you see a guy with an ES...why don't you just backup...then he can't hit you.

well in juggernaught mode you can make someone faster if he/she is the juggernaut so possibly adding a juggernaught feature into the sword when u pick it up? just my idea sorry.....i dont do CE modding, only PC
