Tutorial: How to put your own music in halo's menu
I have done it, though your song can only be 121 seconds before it gets cut off because you can only overlap existing songs. Heres how.
You Wil Need:
------------------------- Cache002.map ------------------------------
From your xbox, its either on your X,Y,Z drive.
--------------------- xb_adpcm_codec --------------------------------
http://www.gueux.net/modules/mydownload ... 99d549e2c5
--------------------- HaloMapTools.V2 -----------------------------------
http://www.halomods.com/downloads/pafil ... file&id=84
--------------------- Audio Converter/Recorder -----------------------
http://allen-martin-inc.com/downloads/amWaveP111st.exe
1) Download and extract xb_adpcm_codec. Open up the foder.
1a) Right click "XBADPCMinst.inf", then click install.
1b) When installation is complete:
-Go to your Device Manager
-Double click "Audio Codecs"
-Go to the Properties tab
-Double click "Xbox ADPCM Audio CODEC"
-Be sure "Use this audio codec" is enabled
-Change codec priority to 1
-Click "OK"
2) Now pick your own MP3/WAV/WMA. It Must be a Wav for the "Audio Converter/Recorder" to read it and convert it to Xbox Audio format. You can download http://www.goodeasy.net/download/amc.exe to convert Mp3/WMA into Wav.
3) Once You have your Wav Open Up amSoundRecorder.exe AKA "Audio Converter/Recorder". Click Options, Audio Devices then Select your Devices.
4) Click File, Open, Browse for you Wav, Then open it.
5) In the Box Converter click change.
6) Click format then Xbox ADPCM, If you have installed "xb_adpcm_codec" correctly you should see it.
7) Click Attributes then select: 44.100 kHz, 4 Bit, Stereo 48 kb/sec.
Then Click Ok.
In the Converter Box it should look like this:
Xbox ADPCM
44.100 kHz, 4 Bit, Stereo
9) Once you have everything right, Click convert.
(if you get "error Permission Denied" close all programs running in the background, SoundRecorder.exe and reapeat Steps 3 - 9)
10) If successful you should see " Conversion Done" then click ok.
11) Click File, Save As: halo_orig_title
(remember where you saved it to)
12) Open Up Halo Map Tools V2.
13) Click File, Open, and browse for your Cache002.map
14) Under Resource browser: click Sound, sound\Music\title1\loops
15) To your right, Under " tracks contained in the selection sound structure" click halo_orig_title
16) Press import track and browse for your halo_orig_title
(if your confused look at Step 11)
17) Should Say track was successfully imported
18) Your Done! This is my first Tutorial so be nice.
Note: your song will only play when the Halo Origianl Sound track is supposed to play. So you will have to wait about 15 seconds till your song will play in the menu
