Better Watch What You Say

Post by Phenomena »

n accordance with new U.S Federal Law signed earlier this month you may only seriously flame other users on the site if you reveal your true identity (full name) to them as well. Failure to comply may result in you being fined under title 18 and no more than 2 years in a Federal Prison.

The full text of this law may be found at this link. http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html ... -000-.html

May this be a warning to all who wish to flame other users, or even annoy them. Yes, the law uses the term "annoy". So watch out who you piss off, because now it's a federal offense. Don't ask me why our free speech is being taken away.

NOTE: This rule applies only to users in any part of the United States including Puerto Rico, Guam, the American Samoa (or any other territory island thing) , and overseas Military Bases and Embassies/Consolates. I don't think we have any members from those places, though. This law includes communications between you and members domestic AND foreign. Members not living in the United States are advised to still follow your own laws and the rules of the forum do still, as always, apply.

Tehehe for us canadians we can flame all we want... according to our charter of rights and freedoms

2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:

a) freedom of conscience and religion;
b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
d) freedom of association.

I think that us Halomodians should agree to say that if questioned about this, that we were just joking around. Whereas the two individuals in a heated debate, silently agree to say this.

I think George dubyah needs to be impeached! If I am correct, he has broken federal law lobbied specifically at his position. There was a law made after Vietnam, and it prevented the president from sending troops overseas for more than 60 days, unless war was declared by congress.

I guess that just doesn't apply to good old George dubyah?

For the past couple years now, and increasingly every day, it just seems to me like the world is going to end. The stock market is falling every day now, the environment is being destroyed, insane and unfair laws are created every month or so now, the prediction that we will run out of oil sometime in 2006, the possibility of a Draft, it all culminates together to render a scene of total apocolypse!

There is a saying I remember:

"I may not like what you say, but I will defend thee with my life for your right to say it."

Benjamin Franklin, once said this:

"those that would give up their freedoms for security deserve neither"

I think the Patriot act was an atrocity. I doubted the truth of these words recently, thinking "come on, it can't be that bad... can it?" to my regret and shame, and now I realise just how bad this world is really starting to get.

All I want is to have a warm place to live, some drink and food, and something to prevent my boredom, without worrying about whether this next post, this post of letters and numbers, ones and zeros, will land me in prison for up to two years.

This is all because of the fact that George Bush is a retard. How the hell could America elect a person that got C's at Yale?

I asked my dad about this (he's a lawyer) and he explained it to me. It really actually does effectively nothing at all. Why? Because all it really says is that you cannot annoy someone without revealing your identity. But the word 'annoy' is a grey area. There is no federal definition of annoy, so it's incredibly unlikely that you'll see anything go to court for this.

Because most of America is retarded too, and they don't wanna get smarter. Take for example the popularity of Larry the Cable guy. Down with the retarding of America!! Stay in school, and don't drink alcohol kids. It seems fun at the time, but it makes you stupid... :P

...which is why I love forums, and the internet. It's full of smart people, and you can talk with other people with the same opinion as you. I consider anyone who knows how to operate a computer smart. The average folk I talk to are completely ignorant in these areas.
I find the average attitude of anybody not in the internet society, to be just plain "dumb as in dumb as bliss". The phrase "igornance is bliss", really puts the stamp on it. I tell my friends, parents, and people and usually the reply I will get will be something with little merit.

I tell my friend (let's call him Bill) about these forums I visit and he asks me a question completely un related to the subject. Or he will ask me something about it, but I don't really think there is much thinking going on here. Now don't get me wrong, my friends are pretty cool, but I just can't get over thinking how much smarter than anyone else I know ( :roll: ).

I sort of consider the average crazed idiot you find on these forums smart as well, because the people I know wouldn't know enough to figure out how to register for a forum.

Ok, so I'm reading this old book: Star Wars, The X-wing Rogue sqaudron, and Bill, who is quite the star wars fan, says "hey, is that a star wars book?" me: "yeah, I got it from my aunt" Bill: "how long you been reading it?" me: "just picked it up this morning" Bill: "hey let me see that for a second..." *hands over the book* *opens to the "Other Books in this series" section and peers over the list of books (it is quite extensive, but one page) and points to a title: "Star Wars: I, jedi"* Bill: "Hey, I haven't read this book... I think it might be a cool read" me: "really? You've read every star wars book out there didn't you say?" Bill: "yeah..." *hands me the book* *wanders off to get some stuff for class*

Bill here actually read every single book in the star Wars series, apart from that "I, Jedi" one, or so I'm told. My brother says some other weird tib bits of dialogue, but still I don't see where he comes up with it all. Some things he says are downright insulting, although he laughs and thinks it's a joke. I tell him it isn't a joke and he just laughs again.

Did I mention Bill speaks kind of slowly? Almost as if he's I dunno, half awake?
