Question

I was wondering how to do something.

I've seen pictures where the text has a line above and below it and they fade away towards the left and right. I was wondering if anyone knows how to do that? I'm sure it's simple, I just can't figure it out.

I would have provided a picture example but I couldn't find any.

Thanks!

Make a line with the line tool. Fill it in with white. Filter-Blur-Motion Blur it.

It sounds like a gradient, but instead of going black to white, it's white - black - white.

I'm sure you could marquee where you want the line to be, then gradient with that. Then make another marquee under the text and repeat.

Edit:
Or you could use GTAF's simpler method. >_<

Drawing a line and applying a fading gradient works. I usually draw the line and use the eraser with its flow turned really low.

Ah, that did it. :) Thanks GTAF

You can lock this now if you want. :)

That would work too...if you made a selection/mask and applied a White->Transparent gradient, but my way is much simpler/more practical. I forgot to mention you need to motion blur it so that the line in the filter's options is perfectly flat...but you seem to have figured it out regardless.
