I basically need some constructive criticism on this piece of work(keep in mind I am new to cinema 4d):

I used matrix extruding to make these, out of different primitive shapes. I put four of my latest artworks together, added text, and got this. The text isn't great(mainly because of the glow and the size), but what other things can I work on to make it look more than just renders. I want to photoshop it before I buy one of the prints.

The renders themselves look very basic, try experimenting with different tutorials and whatnot to get more advanced renders.

the renders are really basic, I would suggest trying different tutorials until you get a variety of shapes.

They're pretty good considering you're new to it.

Also, if money is not an issue for you, I'd recommend buying Bryce 3D. I think it sells for around 100 USD now, and I personally think it yields better results as far as abstract renders go.

I know a lot of tuts have matrix extrude for there methods but I think matrix tool is horrible for abstracts. Try experimenting with splines, loft nurbs, the magnet tool, and deformers. I suggest creating multiple spot or omni lights with a soft shadow enabled.

ok, I'll try out bryce 3d for the mac I guess. I'm not going to get too much into this because it's just for the heck of it and all, but maybe I'll consider buying it one time. Also, I've tried other tutorials too and I am getting to work on some real c4d abstracts.
