I just formatted so im still catching up on all the resources I've lost.
C&C Please.

background is way too dull, and doesn't really blend well with the render.

It looks like the render is sitting in front of a badly set up blue screen, with an odd background put in that doesn't really match it.

Xiion, the background is supposed to be like that...

Both of you are incorrect. This is a different style, that was executed very well. Although the sprite is quite dark, to say it doesn't "blend" would be unreasonable. I mean, it almost looks like he has a solid surface to stand on, even though it's basically a render on nothing. Plus we all know Detox does all his own textures, so we can safely say that nothing but skill is behind that image.

I think it owns. 1000/10. Guys on fire Ftw!

you guys are weird... i really do believe the background and the render do not, in any way match color blending wise, and contrast/brightness wise. i don't like it. the sprite looks like its really just a shrunken render from like... Prince of Persia or something and was cutout horribly, and that the bg was made in Apophysis or some other fractal program.

Its a type of style Xiion.

The render does match with the BG just fine the way I see it.

Nice guess, but its not Apophysis, if I knew what that was. It was photoshopped...

And the brightness contrast help makes up the style.

yes, i am weird, but whenever i post something that has a good amount of contrast/brightness to make it dark and bright, and not dull, people say its dull looking. your is dull, i see no one else noticing, which makes me very very confused.

Try taking out the render...also, it looks like you used a fractal created by Apophysis. Feel like crediting the renderer?
