My 2 favorite sigs lol...
Made in like... 2005 haha... before anything about Halo 3 was known (before they announced it)
Obviously they're not 'run of the mill'... sigs bore the crap out of me lol... it's usually nothing but cutouts that people didn't actually cut out themselves... and brushes that people didn't actually makes themselves...
But yeah, just thought I'd share

text is bad on the second. try avoiding the use of the Halo font. and the one with the MC arms spazzing is pretty lame.

I know, I don't condone the use of Halo font... but it felt apropriate in the first one... seeing as how the first line of text is 'Halo 3'
And I don't like generic sigs... they bore me... nothing says 'I suck at graphic design' more then a sig with crappy blending, some brushes tapped here and there, maybe a hue/saturation/colorize adjustment of some kid, some pattern over-lay... and some text that doesn't fit what-so-ever with what's going on

well, theres more to grpahics design than that. The better ones don't use brushes, and theres more advanced effects other than overlays and H/S changes. Thats what Afterparty and I call "GFX" Stuff that is found on mainstream sites. The underground sites is where it's at.

Very true. However I disagree with the statment. Brushes can be used, if you don't rely totally on them (I.E. might want to add some spark to something with using a grunge brush or two).
you and your hook-ups at j3

Yeah, I'll agree with you for sure... but a lot of the 'main stream' sig designers concider theirselves to be 'graphic artists' or something of that nature. Sigs are horrible... I know a few artists who make good sigs, but it's like, once in a life time that they actually do... they keep a majority of their time to real art work... I just hate most sigs these days, they're like Halo 2 montages, the same shit used over and over and over again... half of which they didn't actually create, they just coppied.
A majority of sigs these days are:
Brushes the person didn't mak
A 'style' that's based off of a tutorial (and by 'based' I mean 'coppied instance by instance')
A ''render'' that the person didn't cut out
Horrible text
No origionality
But yeah... I know what you're saying, the first sig I made because I was filming for an intro to a montage one of my buddies was working on, and he needed me to film for it... and the second one was just me messing around with stick figure animation sooo long ago, I just thought it was funny how I made the 'shield' and then the bubble shield actually came out in Halo 3... it's just such a random coincidence I think it's hilarious.
I've always thought the random MC weird-ass movements were really funny, so when I captured that tweak out sequence completely on accident, I thought I'd break it down and create an animated sig via Adobe After Effects... it was fun, and I think the animation is funny... And Ephrum coming from the Family Guy episode with Petoria... "Ephrum the Retarded Rabbit (Buggs Bunny)... the retardation of the MC's actions seemed very fitting)
But yeah lol, I get what you're saying with Mainstream vs Underground, and I completely agree.
