Keep reading those tutorials. Nothing blends.

Like i said, i like the overall concept but i think the BG needs something to it.

Text is pretty awful. The fact that the two blocks of text are two different shades of red is a big turnoff.

Ok, Beef, I see what you mean. I'll change that next. I do have an update, but it's definetly not done. I blended it a bit more, but now it looks over contrasted. Anyway:

EDIT:
and the updated text:

Well, they said to blend it, so I did. And the technique that I used to blend involved the glow effect, so what do you expect me to do?

You don't have to blend everything in, blending is a tiny factor when your tag (sig) isn't a brushed abstract type.

When it's not brushed abstract, depth, overall effects, direction, and coloring come more into play.

So maybe I could still have a little bit of the glow, just not so much?

EDIT: Also, I noticed that if I get rid of some of the glow, the lines in Alyx's face become more defined, and she looks more stressed or concerned.

=/

here maybe this pb could help:
http://s86.photobucket.com/albums/k82/ubiytsa/

it's owned by `ubiytsa at nsl but he doesn't care when I give the link out cause he's cool with me, get some inspiration off of those tags

oh and he deletes tags regularly and make sure not to use any parts of his tag in yours

Ok, I'll take a look at those. Anyway, I got rid of some of the glow, and it does look a good deal better, now that you can see her face a bit more.

Kinda flat, Text is bad, and besides, why have a weak gun aiming at a character you cant kill without a script?

It just doesn't have that much going on. You've got to have color, excitement, action! Easier said than done, I know. But this one just seems kind of bland.

Okay, I see what you're saying. I'm not done with this one, though. I'll probably take a new screen and add more. Maybe I could pose a combine holding a gun to her head, and more of a scared look on Alyx's face. This is probably gonna take a while, so I'll probably end up making a new thread. (Unless it's ok with the mods if I bump this one, as long as I have new progress.)

If you want to get good facial expressions, I suggest Gmod.

That's what I used. Notice the slightly depressed look on Alyx's face, rather than the normal one. Here's a pic for you to compare:
