The balls themselves look good; the table surface doesn't.

The numbers are supposed to go in order from 1 to 15, with the 1 ball at the front point. Everything else is in order, except for the eight ball in the middle.

The use of HDRI does not really fit, and the GI is not rendering accurately. It just doesn't look very realistic.

the chalk stains look pretty bad for two reasons. first, the reflective/gloss coat appears to be applied to the chalked up parts as well, which wouldnt be the real case because the chalk should look powdery. and second, there is way too much of it on the cue ball, as a combined result of both these things, it looks more like the cue ball has a marble-esque pattern on it. Otherwise it is pretty awesome, I didnt notice the fact that the table didn't end until looking very closely.

I don't think any pool balls are that reflective. The reflection also looks strange for some reason.

Just depends on what company made the ball, I've had shiny ones and dull-like ones.
And yes, the chalk does look pretty bad, because it's just a patteren, as apposed to random chalk marks.

For a more realistic look you would need a different rendering engine like vray and brazil.
But yeah looks good.

im using finalrender, ill mess around with the other two though. thanks for the comments, for the chalkmarks, should i just make a bitmap for it?

yeah, a bitmap might work, just make sure you dont overdo it on the marks

I say have a custom Cue Ball, Like the one at my office, for fun, my boss has a clear Cue with a small grenade in it. Properly weighted, balanced, and no imperfections. But yes, Cut the chalk, or better yet, kill the chalk alltogether.
