Question for the Moderators and Administrators

Hey! Awesome site design
I was wondering where you all got those cool slick-sphere avatars for the moderators, admins, etc. Don't worry, I won't use them for my avatar, but i was wondering if you got them from another site, or if you're just really good with photoshop
They look really cool and I was considering using a similar (but not exact) theme for my own forums. Thanks for your help

Well those avatars were made by one of our moderators here... and you can find the themes the main site and this forum anywhere... they're pretty popular...

I did manage to google a tutorial on how to create those exact ones (once i got the wording correct
) But it's telling me to use a program called Paint.net. Well, I was able to make one, but it wasn't very user-friendly so I'm going to try to see if I can duplicate the project on photoshop

Make a transparent BG. Then save as PNG or GIF. I think PNG only works with Fire Fox, and GIF only works with Internet Explorer.
Other then that it would look good.

lol. thanx for the input. do you guyz know how to get rid of the background and save it so it doesn't appear on the site? tried magic wanding it, but apparently it didn't work...

Try to select > select by color.
Have your front color as white, then it should work.

Saved it as GIF. As you can see the background is gone!
But now it looks pixelated...

Duplicate the layer then put a Guassian blur on the one under neath. Then flatten and save as .gif.
