transparency

is there any other format besides gif and png that allows transparency and has a low file size?
i cant get my avatar below 11.8 kb as a png and without getting an ugly ring around it as a gif

TIF and TXC might...but they're huge files, and you'd be lucky to find ONE site on the web that lets you upload them. If you have a FTP account though, be my guest.

nah i need to get the filesize down for ma avatar
it needs to be under 10 kb

Then save it as a GIF and make sure there's nothing fuzzy in the image (ie. drop shadow).
