It's not so much the errors that stop such an advancement but the programmers knowledge and will to program such features.

Of course it would have errors, especially when it was first released. It could be done, but there's really no need, there just needs to be a working one of each of those, it's a lot harder for one or a few programmers to incorporate all that into one program than let many users switch between a couple of programs to fit their needs. But yeah like Demonic said, it's the will to program all the features, when you already have it and you're too lazy to switch between working programs then it's just too bad(I know there needs to be working chunk cloning and better bsp viewer, but everything else works pretty well).

you can program anything with ease, if you know exactly what you need the program to do, it just might take a while...

If anybody was thinking of Entity while talking about this...anything it may have had wrong with it was because Anthony (can't say for Poke) was still learning and thus it may have caused problems when coding the application. Another reason why the code would do so sloppy if you have ever taken a look at it.
Anyways, with the BSP viewer, maybe give it enough detail when rendered to say look like this. (This shot was taken on a computer, with a program. The actual game was not involved in any way shape or form. Just a program and the .map.) It was rendered with lightmaps, detail maps, point sampling, and pitched camera.

Most of that is already possible, like OwnZ joO said, you need to use more then one app. The main things we need is PMI and a better BSP viewer. I have soon good ideas on the BSP viewer I think people will enjoy. Also realize that school has started. Maybe this is a good time to get a life instead of bitching to people about putting stupid things in modding apps

While I agree entirely with what you said. Sometimes utilizing multiple programs won't play nice with the map. Like first thought would be h2core/h2guerilla and entity. Now, i'm not saying they can't be used in conjunction with one another, it just becomes more of a tedious job making sure nothing gets corrupted after something such as rebuilding then using Entity for any other purpose.OwnZ joO wrote:Like you said it would be nice... So on the bright side, yes we do have many easy work arounds but at the same time, if we had them all included into the same programming...it more than likely will all work together without programs if it's coded correctly into the same program. (Like using one program for almost all your needs. There is less of a worry that it will destroy your map if it was coded to work correctly with all the other features it offers.)

it would be really nice to have a bsp viewer like sparkedit... much easier than entity. just sayin.
also the ability to internalize bitmaps would be cool, possibly by the several, or maybe just an option to just internalize all of them. entity is missing that. it's really annoying when you ftp a map to your xbox, run down a flight of stairs, start up halo, go into a game, and then realize you forgot to internalize your super cool plasma pistol skin... and entity can't do it...
