are you extracting the file then looking through it from there?looknbarrel wrote:Hmmm i'm pretty sure you guys can help me. How do you know when the tag meta ends. You can figure out how many chunks thery're are easily but I can't figure out the size of each chunk because I don't know when the meta for that tag ends. Any help would be aprreciated, thnx

Yea I extracted it then opened in notepad so I can see where the reflexive starts and where it points to and how many chunks there are but I just don't know how to tell how big each chunk size is when looking in hex workshopthetyckoman wrote:are you extracting the file then looking through it from there?looknbarrel wrote:Hmmm i'm pretty sure you guys can help me. good, good, now how you find the size of the chunks, is you go down the list of reflexives and find where the next pointed to offset is, most of the time you look at the next reflexive's pointed to offset, but sometimes you have reflexives out of order or the more likely case is that you have a nested reflexive (a reflexive that is in a reflexive's meta) so anyways you find the next translated reflexive offset and then subtract the reflexive's offset that you want to know the size of, then divide that number by the chunk count and you should get the chunk sizelooknbarrel wrote:Yea I extracted it then opened in notepad so I can see where the reflexive starts and where it points to and how many chunks there are but I just don't know how to tell how big each chunk size is when looking in hex workshop

just so you can follow along with my bad grammar.......
(from the characters tag elite_ultra)
Reflexive|44|236|2|char|objects\characters\elite\ai\elite_ultra
Reflexive|60|260|1|char|objects\characters\elite\ai\elite_ultra
so say you want to find reflexive 44's chunk size, for this it's really easy because you don't have to worry about nested stuff, so you can just follow the procedure to the letter
first take the next reflexive's translated offset (260 in this case) the subtract the translated offset of the reflexive that we are wanting the chunk size for (ITC 236) so we get 24, so that is the size of all the meta in the reflexive, but since it has a chunk count larger than 1 we need to divide that by the number of chunks ITC 2 so we come up with a chunk size of 12
so then if your making a plugin with dark matter or h2x's system then we'd put this into the plugin (well at least what I'd put

.Tab--unknown44
1.Label-unknown44-80-Left
1.Reflexive-44-12-120
.*--1
hope that helps

then its safe to assume that the reflexives meta spans until the end of the meta, so if you had a reflexive point to 176, and the entire meta has a size of 200, then that reflexive points to 24 bytes of data....so say it has a chunk count of 3, (0300), divide the total meta that the reflexive points to, which is 24, by 3, so you get a chunk size of 8. if you have any more questions about all of this stuff feel free to ask, thats what this topic is for

Ok gotcha just wan't sure if when it has one reflexive it goes all the way to the end of metaxbox7887 wrote:then its safe to assume that the reflexives meta spans until the end of the meta, so if you had a reflexive point to 176, and the entire meta has a size of 200, then that reflexive points to 24 bytes of data....so say it has a chunk count of 3, (0300), divide the total meta that the reflexive points to, which is 24, by 3, so you get a chunk size of 8. if you have any more questions about all of this stuff feel free to ask, thats what this topic is for
thats how the game compiles...it has all the basic data where their offsets are true for every meta in that tag and reflexive locations are kept constant also (nested reflexives are a different story). then depending on what reflexives are present, it will add each reflexive meta one after the other on top of the constant meta. its kind of hard to explain but once you understand how they work its pretty easy figuring out whats what
