dec and i made this mod the way we were taught how to mod. We used darkmatter, adi, insolence, and dothalo, and i did not do anything to them that should make this map improper. I must have learned the improper way. The only i see that messed up the patching business, is the model injections. How about telling us wat we need to do in order to inject more than 1 model USING DARKMATTER MODEL INJECTOR to make a map serenity format like u insist?tjc2k4 wrote:Why not try making the map patch-able? It couldn't be too hard unless you messed some things up pretty hard-code.
I think that making the map into a 3-4MB patch instead of a 50MB "ppf" would be a better use of your time over adding a few weapons or a spear. That's just my opinion though
I never insisted about serenity format, I just said patchable, but for a mod like this, serenity probably would be best (I don't consider a ppf bigger than the map to be a 'patch', it's the map, just in a horrible format).DoorM4n wrote:How about telling us wat we need to do in order to inject more than 1 model USING DARKMATTER MODEL INJECTOR to make a map serenity format like u insist?

i see, and yeah, i was thinking the same thing(starting over)tjc2k4 wrote:I never insisted about serenity format, I just said patchable, but for a mod like this, serenity probably would be best (I don't consider a ppf bigger than the map to be a 'patch', it's the map, just in a horrible format).DoorM4n wrote:How about telling us wat we need to do in order to inject more than 1 model USING DARKMATTER MODEL INJECTOR to make a map serenity format like u insist?
Anyway, I haven't ever injected models with Dark Matter, and I haven't looked at this map (like I said earlier, I seldom download mods that aren't patches), so I wouldn't be much help, I was just saying that I thought making this map patchable would be better than adding more features to it and making it farther and farther from patchable. [my opinion, that's all].
Now, if I had to recommend a solution about how to make this map patchable, it would probably be something like this:
1.) Start over (yes, it ***, but I think starting over would be better than trying to fix the existing map, because as you'll see below, it would help you learn what to do, and not to do, with future mods).
2.) Do the mod one step at a time, and figure out which tool is messing up your map. (i.e. skin it, see if you can make a patch. Change item placements or whatever, see if you can make a patch. Change models, see if you can make a patch. etc..)
3.) Once you figure out which tool/step was messing up the map, look in to why. Maybe see if there's any other tool that will do what you're trying to do, and maybe do it without creating the error. If there's not, contact the author and tell him what his program is doing wrong, see if he can fix it.
4.) If stuck with only 1 tool that does what you want, but breaks your map, and an author who refuses to fix it, post and see if anyone else has a method for doing what you want, maybe by hand, but correct.
Anyway, it may seem like a lot of work, but in the end, it would be worth it since you would have proper maps, and small patches, resulting in more exposure of your mod.
On a side note, a similar process could be used for any mods with broken SLC. Test the mod as you go along, see where SLC break, etc.
Usually with SLC, it seems to be Insolence's fault, but nobody has posted any specific results(multiple cases of it worked before I did this 1, specific, step, but not after, with a variety of steps, so maybe a pattern could be seen), so nobody knows what breaks it, what doesn't, why, etc, and I refuse to help people who won't put forth any effort on their own.

Yes it will change the modding community and no it hasnt been done and you cant do it with programsMasterChief2829 wrote:by 'changing the halo 2 modding universe forever' or w/e... do you mean you are doing something that has never been done before and beyond imagination! Or is it something that could be done with current knowledge.
