Just a post to confirm it is SLC. Just tested it and played a rather fun 1v1 snipers match
.
It seems there are a mixture of people who like the overall look of the map and then there are some who don't lol. It doesn't really matter. If you like it thanks. If not, well everyone has the right to their own opinion.
About the grav bridge, they don't lead to a critical area of the map, just to a closed door. There is nothing down there. They have no effect on gameplay(unless you go through the effort of running down there with the oddball and manage to survive to the other side)and can be ignored. I left them in because if they weren't there you wouldn't be able to get back(you can get to the other side by walking along the w/e it is around the grav bridge.)
Also, the machine that is the grav bridge only goes one way. I suppose they could be scripted to switch directions depending on variables(or an actual physical switch). Actually, in SP, the bridge that is near the blue base runs the way it is in this map and then is reversed, like I said, by script(I assume).
Anyway, long rant

I sort of half answered your post above halo0001, but about the size of the map...
I don't think it's that big. I mean it's big if you count the area at the end of the grav bridge, but the areas of the map in which you would be playing in a normal game aren't that big, I'd say perhaps the length of Zanzibar but not as wide.
