Not really...they are roughly the same size as halo 2 multi-player maps. Its the single player maps of halo 1&2 that are the big ones. Also halo 1 maps are, on average, 20MB. Halo 2 maps are, on average, 30MB. So again not much difference.

Actually, there only that much when compressed, what we want. But, for the record, Halo 1 maps are about 40 uncompressed.

BTW, installation was good until the point where it said that MS-DOS has found an illegal operation. If I hit ignore it came up again and then I had to hit close :(

If you don't know about Halo 1 modding you wouldn't know it. Hmm.... basically instead of using up a lot of room, they decided to compress maps and have them be loaded as their full versions. If you open one up in Dot Halo, Sparkedit, etc. it'll ask if you wanna decompress.

Ah. I see. I was never really into halo 1 modding. I let others do it for me (NMP&CXE)

can someone please tell me what I put in the input folders exactly? I can't get all the campaign maps from my halo 2 disc because its strached badly. When I run the complier it gets to the dos screen and then it says Halo 2 not founded! Please place it in the Input folder and try again. exiting setup press any key to continue...

In the halo 2 folder I have the bink folder, fonts folder, maps folder, and the default.xbe. The bink folder has nothing in it, the fonts have the fonts, the maps have wat little of the campaign maps I can get. In the halo 2 mmp I have a map folder with all the multiplayer maps.

that was really uncalled for. everyone has to start somewhere. we cant all be genious's like you. I wonder how many potential really good modders you scare away when you say stuff like that.

All I did was ask a simple question and you came out and showed how stupid you really are. I hope you feel better.

For the record, I did figure out what my problem was but now it says that I have nothing in the halo 2 multiplayer map pack folder. I copied the whole theree folders of the downloadable contect straight to that folder and it doesnt work. I tried just throwing the maps in that folder, it doesnt work. Can someone please fill me in on what goes in that folder?

The compiler worked fine for me with this file layout. Sorry I couldn't list all the files. The post would have been a whole page. My problem is that the DVD files total up 5.2 GB. What did I do?

It just makes a folder of contents from all I can tell. You just have to burn that to DVD. But the contents for me are about 700MB to large to fit on a DVD.

Ok, sorry I haven't reponded in so long I unexpectedly had to leave town on business. I hope this will help people out a little.
Here is the file structure of every file you can delete:

Input-

>Halo-
>>Bink
>>Xdemos
>>Maps-
>>>SP Maps

>Halo 2-
>>default.xbe
>>Bink
>>Maps-
>>>SP Maps
>>>Single_player_shared.map

>Halo 2 Mulpilayer Map Pack-
>>Movies
>>Cdxmedia-
>>>*.inx

You can NOT delete any other files or setup will fail.

P.S.
I will be Seeding the torrent until I release a new version.
Once I have the final ready I will seed it for the next year or so.

hidden folder

Post by jlddodger »

There's a hidden folder called Config inside the main directory (with Input). Inside is Compile.cmd. If you right click and say edit (DON'T EDIT ANYTHING), but you will get a list of the files that the installer is checking for. Make sure they are all there. And you should be good to go. I spent two hours on the difference between Inputs and Input. So, don't get frustrated.

I hope you don't mind me giving that little secret away killerz.

Oh, and if you have an xdemos folder for Halo 1 you won't need that. Those videos are huge.

Killerz, any insights on why my folder is too big to burn.
edit: nm, I got it this time.

Cheers

jlddodger, why did your disk come out 700 MB over limit? This happend to me once while I was working on the compiler but I never figured out why. If I know what caused it maybe I can block it from happening again.
P.S.
Anyone wishing to contact me should e-mail me at
[email protected]
I will get to it much faster than halomods PM.
