Just patch the cache002, compress it with SparkEditor2.5, and save it as ui.map. Works perfect and will stay.
Cool Good job. I was thinking that I could take out the Halo Ring or something and put a bit more in the background bitmaps like some Covenant Cruiser thingy. That'd be cool :)

I was having compression problems with 3.0. I think there is a newer version/fix but 2.5 has been working great for me so far.

Hmmm, I think I'll try this on one of my gullable friends. I'll tell him it's a beta version that got released, I have him convinced that I ran to Discount Auto Parts the other day to pick up some headlight fluid. Speaking of which, anyone seen the latest Red vs. Blue?

you can also use replace the ring with a grenade using HCE, and can also edit the sky color with it, althought outerspace looks kinda weird with any color other than black.

at the risk of sounding stupid (likely i know) how do you swap out the bitmaps, I've loaded ui.map (compressed version) in sparkedit, but all it shows is the ring, i can see in the dialog box that it has loaded a stack of bitmaps and i want to swap some of those out (namely the level preview ones) can anyone help?

is it possible that HMT is not compatible with the xbox ui.map? i keep getting overflow exceptions, it opens bloodgulch and other xbox maps fine, just not ui.map, anyone have any ideas or suggestions? or if anyone can get this working are they willing to help me out, i have 15 or 16 .bmps that i want to switch out, if i can get someone to extract them and send them to me i can send back the ones i want them replaced with.

Anyone willing to help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.

nope, still getting the "arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow" error
i'm trying to open the cache of the map, i'm gonna try to re-install 3.5 see if that helps.
