After downloading and updateing a Halo mod (in this particular case, the Blood Gulch nuke mod) the LAN game I host takes forever to set up and hasn't yet after 20 minutes. Do any of your modified games take forever/freeze while trying to set up?

And I was the creator of the game, it was stuck on 'Creating network server' or something like that. I was also using a custom game type if that matters.

And it is a wireless connection... but I usually get 80% of the full capacity of the signal (4 bars out of 5). I haven't had a problem with slow internet lately.

Please search Microsoft.com for a patch that has to deal with wireless connections. I have a wireless connection to, it can be a pain in the ass at times. But your upload (thing that matters more) should still be fine. I suggest looking for a patch and going to the maker of the wireless's site like linksys or dlink. They should be able to help more.
