NEWB!!! Problems applying patch

Post by BeerHat »

Alright guys, I have tried to find the fix for this but I cannot. I saw the FAQ for applying ppfs, so I...

copied the .map file to PC
applied patch with ppf-o-matic
copied the patched .map back to xbox
loaded halo
started a game on the map (bg)

... and it was just the same as always. No change to the map. I did use the ppf that was for bg, so that's not it.

The FAQ said to erase the cache files - is that erasing the maps and then starting the game? I erased bloodgulch.map and loaded halo from hdd, started a game on bg, quit, and there was no 'fresh file' in the maps folder. Sorry for long post but please help! thanks

not sure wat ur prob is, but to clear ur cache:

FTP to ur box
for BG, delete cache003.map
start a game of BG
restart box
FTP into xbox
you have a fresh copy of BG there

ok, I figured it out, thanks. Which maps use which cache files? cuz I'd like to patch each level but if I have to clear the cache files each time it'd erase the patch I'd just used on a map.

cache001 (i thk?) is the most recently played SP map and cache003 is the most recently played MP map. When u start a new MP/SP map, it erases the old cache file and puts the new one there.

I see. So say I play BG with the patch, then play another MP level, then go back to BG, the patch will be gone? I guess I'm wondering if there's a way to 'lock' the patch into each map so it'll be there whenever I play.

By the way thanks for helping a new guy with questions, I appreciate it.
