Will flash memory card adapters cause speed hits?

I just got my PSP and got an auction on Ebay along with it. The auction was for a 2Gb micro sd card, with a Mini Sd adapter and a full size sd adapter, plus a USB card reader, and a microsd to MS PRO Duo adapter. I ask now, if I use that micro sd in the MS pro duo adapter (or any of the others for that matter) will it cause a hit in the speed of reading or writing to the card?

It shouldn't. I recently used my 1GB microSD card through a normal SD card in my camera, and it worked perfectly fine.

Hmm. I was just wondering this because on the same day that my parents bought the PSP for me, they picked up a Sony camera too, which happens to use MS Pro duo cards :D But to put the card in the card reader of my computer, I had to use the included adaptor to turn it into a regular memory stick so it'd fit. Now when it's in my computer, it suddenly becomes disconnected or something after a few seconds to a few minutes. I thought then that adapters must have some downside, like low speed or disconnections (because I got such a great deal on Ebay. I paid less for a memory card and 4 adapters than I would for a regular 2GB memory stick.)
