Alright, so recently (after getting bored of playing the same-'ol halo 2 over and over) I decied to download the killtrocity map pack, however I'm haveing some problems getting it from my PC to my xbox. I was going to do a straight connection from my xbox to my computer, but that was going to require around $50 worth of software that I just didn't have. Is there another way to transfer it, like burning a disc with the files on it? I also need to get the origional .map files, how do I do that?

If someone could help with post-haste, that'd be great.
Also, I don't know if this is the right sub-forum, so if its in the wrong one, could someone move it to the correct one?

No, you don't need $50 to connect the two, just download an FTP program, like FlashFXP and use the trial for it. To get the original .map files, just boot up FlashFXP and put your Halo 2 disc in and while at your modded dashboard, just FTP to the D drive and get the maps from there.

Oh, I didn't know you could use the flashFXP trial to do it. However theres just one problem, I don't have a modded sahboard. Where could I get one, and how would I install it?

Well, by the looks of things, getting a new dashgboard is like around $20-$50, money I just don't have at the moment (well $20 i can get easily, but then it'd be like another $10 for shipping and handeling, and I dont have a credit or depit card to pay with, nor will my parents help pay for it).

I'm not too sure if you're Xbox is even modded, but if it is, a dashboard won't cost anything. If it isn't modded, then yes, you will need to spend around $30. This is about as far as we can go into the Xbox portion of your question, but if you get the modded dash and the original .map files and have any trouble applying the Killtrocity map pack then come back and ask here. Good luck with it.

Alright, so lemme see if I'm getting this correctly. What I need to do is get around $30 for a new dashboard, install it, create an FTP uplink and get the origional .map files with it, and then install the killtrocity map pack using the same link, correct?

Well yes and no. Do you know if you're Xbox is already softmodded or hardmodded?

Well, I don't believe my xbox is modded at all. What exactly does softmod and hardmod mean? (apalogies for asking so mnay questions, I'm new to modding)

There really is no difference between the two. In your case you will probably want to do a softmod. Just go read up on www.xbox-scene.com on how to do one. Now, being that you do not have a modded box you will probably have to spend around $30 depending on what needed items you may already posses.

Well, I've read it over, and I have all the nessecary materials and software for the job, except for the mod chip. Are there any recommended mod chips that can support the killtrocity map pack and other modded maps that cost around $30?

Well, I don't know much on modchips but if you do want to hardmod your Xbox, here are some fairly cheap modchips that you can buy. I would suggest you try and softmod your Xbox. All it requires is Action Replay, 1 of 3 certain games, which would all be very cheap nowadays, and a Linux save file to use with Action Replay. But it's up to you on which one you do.

Uh, softmodding sounds bit easier. Now, where exactly would i get Action Replay and a Linux save file, and what do you mean by "1 of 3 certain games?"

You can get Action Replay just about anywhere games are sold. You can get the Linux files from the internet and there are three games that allow you to mod you Console. I have forgotten the complete names of the games, so if you look at xbox scene I'm sure it will have he three listed in the forums somewhere.
