Help with color effects

Well I've been working on a skin lately and i want to change the color of the plasma rifle projectile. i was wondering if there are any bitmaps that i can't find to do it or is there a special way. Thanks.

shader swapping can. But i'd moniter that one closely because it got overused and now is frowned upon.
