Ok, there has to be a better way to edit the mainmenu, at least from my stand point. The way I edit the mainmenu directly is I use Ch2r. I put all the info for the map that I know of which is not much. Most of the time I'm just guessing on map size where it actually says unknown. Down on the team options there

Heres the best way to do it. Go into CH2R (I'm assuming your using the MATG library), and edit everything you want but the pictures. I.E., give them all a name and description and whatnot. Then open your mainmenu in this tool, and for each new slot you see, right click on the blank image, and hit Add Bitmap RAW for each slot you added. Then, go back to CH2r, right click on the picture for each slot, and inject whatever images you wish, and everything should work out just fine.
