Mind enlightening us on what the "Doppler Effect" is?

basic science of wavelength, its the effect you get when an object is moving and pushes the wavelengths closer together. As you see it come toward you you hear it as a higher pitch and lower as it goes by. There is a way to effect it becuase i notice that it is defferent based on the level.
