cd vs. cd key question

No this isnt about retrieving a lost cd key from registry or getting free keys online or anything liek that.
k to the question
i lost my halo disk (halo is still installed tho)
and i also have my cd key for that disk
but since no disk i cant play halo
my friend lent me his disk so i can install but he doesnt know if he has his cd key....do the cd and cd keys have to correspond to install?
sorry if this is illegal or not allowed in the forums cuz i didnt know
but plz i need an answer i wanna play halo again ;__;

Any CD should work with any CD key

if he owns the game, isnt it legal to have a no cd crack? i had this problem with pc, but when i reformated my hd i lost it altogether. so now i got nothin.

If you can prove to somebody that your key is legitimate or if you have the receipt when you purchased the game there should be absolutely no problem with getting a cracked exe.
If you don't have proof, I suggest finding the CD or the receipt.

yes, cds will work with any other cd (speaks from experience)
and you should be able to re-install using his cd, or and iso... but the iso would be pirating, because you would likely have to download one...

Not completly true but yeah avoid it.

no my dad has some...iso..burner thing..idk
we used it last time to make one for halo so this kind of thing wouldnt happen....unfortunatly we had to do a bit of spring cleaning... (8000 viruses...no joke) and the iso was gone. i reinstalled halo didnt think anything of the iso and now like 2 weeks ago i lost the cd. ill probably make an iso of this new game now...which REALLY shouldnt be illegal because its my game and im not distributing it so it wouldnt be pirating...anyway thanks again for the help everyone ;P
