Why is the warthog showing black?

I just finished applying a skin unto a warthog. I cleared my Catch, the XYZfolders and I boot up halo unto a new map, but now when i llook at my skin, it shows up black. It is suppose to be bright orange, but it's just not working right. The only time it is orange is when I walk up close to it. How do I fix it.

Warthog is:
1) Saved as the 3 dds format because that is how it was extracted.
2) Cache and everything is clear.
3) Not on an orginal map, but a renamed map.
4) yes i made it internal

edit: whats a mipmap?

Make sure to save with Mipmaps.

Just check the box that says "Generate MIP Maps".

You need to use the Halo 2 Machinima Companion for the highest quality bitmaps to be used.

For this I don't think he needs to but he does need to check off Generate MIP Maps in order for it not to show up black from a far distance.
