Easiest question in the history of forever.

Alright, so I'm sure this question has been answered a million times before. I apologize for asking this again, as im sure long-standing members are sick of these. All I'm asking is for a simple, laymens term step-by-step method.

I've never modded or done anything close to it. ever. So please, keep the terminology sped-friendly ^_^

So I have a modded xbox (not soft modded) and got all of the killtrocity maps. I downloaded a torrent with the .map files because the .spff or whatever files scared me. I FTPed my laptop to me xbox, and dragged the map folder in halo 2 to my xbox. From there, I simply dragged the 49 .map files into the folder. Then I overwrote the map folder from my laptop over to my xbox. When I start Halo 2, none of the new maps are there. When I go into Avalaunch, I see all the .map files there. (I knew it couldnt just be drag and drop, thats never the case). I've read in other places where you have to clear the cache or something. I'm sure theres other things I have to do too.

If anyone can write the most basic form of tutorial ever seen, Id be greatly appreciative. Just think as if your explaining it to a 5 year old and youll get my cooperation.

EDIT: And one other thing. When I went to drag the new files to the old files, there was already a mainmenu.??? in the old folder. I was afraid to overwrite it with the newer one, so I just left the older mainmenu there. Should I overwrite it with the newer one?

Yes, you overwrite it because the mainmenu is how halo 2 launches maps, and with the old one there, the new maps you put in aren't in any of the slots, so you can't play them. So overwrite the old mainmenu (make a clean backup first incase you want to change) and than boot Halo 2 and you should see your new maps there, ready to play.
