Alright i was wondering how can i set my computer to turn on automaticly at any time i want it to everyday or whatever and and is there anyway to make an autologgin so i dont gotta type a pass and as soon as it turns on it goes to the desktop?

i think the auto power-up feature can be set up on some BIOSes, but other than that, just push the button yourself. as for the auto-login thing, you could remove your account password, and just have to click the icon, but that isn't such a good idea.

just do what i do: i leave my computer on, and the only reason i'd turn it off is if a big-ass storm is coming, or if i need to restart because of updates. if i'm going to be gone and have to worry about siblings messing with my pc, or if i'm going to sleep and don't really wanna hear my pc through the night, i just go to start>shutdown>standby. it's like a screensaver, but runs pc in a minimal power mode, and when you come back, it requests your password.

Where do i find the bios?

right when u start ure comp up all the black and white stuff comes up...pay attention to that and press what ever button it says to enter BIOS. (basic input output settings) but dont play around cuz u could mess up ure comp permanently...

the code to enter the setup is usually one o the f's, f1, f2
but, if you don't know what you are doing, you can mess up a lot.
the bios specifies what to load, and if you screw it up, nothing loads, only the bios if you're lucky

oh and how can i set a password for my internet explorer i have cable internet and i want to make it so only a specific user can use the internet explorer.

it's Basic Input/Output System. it's the little CMOS chip on your motherboard. well, if you guys can pick it out.

just go into the BIOS menu and look around a bit. some have some sort of power scheduling stuff you can do, some don't. and also, feel free to look around in your BIOS. there's really not much you can do from there except prevent your OS from booting, and even then, if you really need the settings to be back at default, all you have to do is turn off the pc, carefully take out the little watch batttery on the motherboard for 15-20 seconds, and put it back in as you found it.

if the person you're blocking is an idiot, logon to their account and delete the shortcut to ie. or if you want a better method, cut (Ctrl+X) and paste(Ctrl+V) the iexplorer.exe file from program files to one of your my documents folders while your logged on. generally, xp will keep users from looking inside other user's folders, so doing this will break all shortcuts for ie, as well as (i think) keep them from easily using ie at all. if you want a password, i think that's too much trouble, and i've never really looked into it. like i said, if i don't want someone from using my computer, i go to start>shutdown>standby.

the program xptools has an option to set a password on an .exe
it's quite a nice program, it has way more functions then just that, i use it all the time

yeah, be carefull with your bios

unless you screw clock speed settings over beyond all reason, there's not much a bios can do to harm your pc. either the pc gets turned off while your flashing the bios, or you select the wrong drive settings and keep your OS from booting. then again, it's been a while since i last looked in my bios menu, so i might be missing something. but then again, screwing with your bios is far less dangerous than screwing with your registy (imo). if something goes wrong with bios settings that you can't fix, turn the pc off, take out the battery for a while, put it back in and restart, and default settings are restored.

i dunno. i guess it's just me. :/

Nah basically everyhting you change in the BIOS can destroy or will manipulate your computers performance

i'm gonna have to double-check. it might just be me being comfortable with my bios, and knowing that settings a cpu multiplier to 100 won't make my cpu run 100x faster.

it won't make it faster, it will melt it
