modded xbox softwere broke i think

Ok so i bought my xbox around 2002 and we played it day and night, until about a year ago when it started to act up, it freazes up at the start up screen. we waited about 4 months and turned it on and TA DA it worked! modded it and now it does the same thing anyone know whats worng?
