so im not much for making my own mods as i am trying/using other peoples mods but ive noticed that people have found a way to add custom modded maps to the game level selection list ONTOP of the origional maps they patched over. For example as Elite747 has done in this picture here...

From what Ive read you add them into the mainmenu.map but I was wondering if somewone could give me some pointers on how to do this so I dont have to overwrite maps the old school way.

I have a little bit of knowladge and exp with dothalo so if you know how to do it with that the advice would be greatly appreciated but any pointers will do, i got nothing.

thanks guys

Just make the Value number, I think, smaller than the other maps and it will be on top of the list.

Hay MT, what does resigning a map do? is it necessary? everyone seems to like your editor for including this ability.

and If I put a map called xyz.map into the maps folder on my xbox do i need to set scenerio to :scenario\multi\xyz\xyz? is that correct, because my maps show up in the list but when i load the level and after the countdown its goes straight back to the pregame lobby. i dunno, maybe thats what resigning does

Resigning a map fixes the "Failed to Load Map" error. To fix your problem, you need to rename the autoupdate. To do that, go into the tdata folder, find the $u folder, and rename it.

And yes, you were right about the scenario name.

you also have to fix the scenario in hex, i dont know if you were clear on that but i thought i'd make sure.

You don't have to in order to load the map. The only reason some ppl do that, is so when they try to connect over system link, there is absolutly no confliction with loading the original map (won't happen 90% of the time) but whatever, it really doesn't matter.

scenario names are useless... the scenario name you enter in the empty mainmenu slots point to the .map file nothin big.. i wonder how people actually came up with that BS

ohhh yeah thats right you have to fake out the update i totally forgot about that. The same thing I had to do to get the levels working back when I was playing around with H2: combat evolved. right on, thanks MT, ohh, what app do you use to convert bmp's and such to dds?
