Server visible but not joinable

I got it so people can see my server, but now they cant join. Can someone tell me what to do so they can play?

Ok i made a server so me and someone else could make a movie. I created it and he can see it, but when he clicks to join it, he cant join it.

First what error does he get?Besides you have to foward ports when you have a router.You also have to open up the ports in the windows firewall

I had to log into my router, which I figured out with help from a few people, so then next in the tutorial it wanted me to go to an applications and gaming thing, but he had Linksys and i have Belkin so i dunno where to go to open up my router to allow people in :?
